Our course on Charity is one of the most popular Torah Live courses. It's made an impact on users worldwide.

Several teachers have done this lesson with their students. In this session, students get to "practice" the mitzvah of maaser.

First, have your students watch the series on Charity. Start the activity after the video "Giving Maaser in the 21st Century."

Guide students in creating their own pretend income. Or hand each student a card with a job title and the income they'd receive. Students then calculate how much maaser they need to give from their salary.

Now that you've calculated how much maaser you need to give, how would you distribute it?

This is a great chance for students to learn about prioritizing needs when giving charity. Who do we choose to give to, and why?

Students can also try the Torah Live challenge "Distribute a Million Dollars." They can submit their creations for points and badges, and could even win a prize from Torah Live!
