Who can use your Torah Live account?

Who's covered by your Family or Educator plan, profile and device limits, school options, and why every account matters.

Written by Meir

Every Torah Live plan covers one home or one teacher. Here's what that means for you.

Note: A Family plan covers everyone who lives in your home. An Educator plan covers you, the teacher, plus your own family at home. Everyone else needs their own account.

Family plan

Everyone who lives under your roof can use it.

  • Add up to 6 family member profiles. Each one keeps its own points, badges, and progress.

  • Family members don't need their own email. You add them right from your dashboard.

  • Watch on up to 3 devices at the same time. Logging in on a fourth? You'll be asked to pause one of your active sessions first.

Educator plan

It's yours, the teacher.

  • One account covers every class you teach, even if you sub in different classes.

  • Use it at home with your own family too. No second plan needed.

  • Add up to 24 students to your class with student profiles.

Who can't use your account

  • Other teachers, even if you never log in at the same time

  • Friends and neighbors

  • Grandchildren or relatives who live in another home

Want to share Torah Live?

Send your referral link from Settings → Referrals. Your friend gets a free week of full access, then 10% off their first year of the Family plan.

Several teachers at your school? A school license gives each teacher their own seat, and the price per teacher drops as you add more.

Why every account matters

A note from our founder:

Every shared password means fewer resources to make the Torah videos our children need and deserve. Torah Live can be self-sustaining. The demand is there, and the mission is too important. We'll get there when everyone who uses Torah Live pays their fair share. And because your plan helps spread Torah to so many Jews worldwide, you can count it as ma'aser.

Common questions

Do I need two plans if I teach and have kids at home?

You don't need two plans. Your Educator plan covers you at school and your family at home.

How many family members can I add to a Family plan?

You can add up to 6 family member profiles to a Family plan.

Can my kids share one profile?

Your kids can share one profile, but their points and progress get mixed together. Give each child their own profile. It's free.

Can two teachers share one account if they never use it at the same time?

Two teachers can't share one account, even at different times. Each teacher needs their own account.

I only use Torah Live sometimes. Can I share my account with another teacher?

Even occasional users need their own account. We price per teacher because it's the simplest, fairest way to keep new Torah content coming. And you can use ma'aser money for your plan.

Does the Educator plan let me share my login?

The Educator plan unlocks more content, not more users. It's for one teacher.

Do I get reward for teaching Torah with a borrowed account?

Only Hashem decides reward. Chazal teach that benefiting improperly can taint a blessing (Berachos 35b), and that a mitzvah built on wrongdoing loses its standing (Sukkah 30a). For the fullest zechus and the cleanest brachah, use your own account.

Can I pay for Torah Live with ma'aser money?

Yes, you can pay for Torah Live with ma'aser money. Many poskim allow it, since your plan helps spread Torah to Jews worldwide.

Does my school get a discount?

Your school saves when it covers more than one teacher. Discounts start at 2 teachers, and the more you add, the more you save. Buy and manage licenses at Settings → Licenses.

There are also options that don't touch the school budget:

  • School sponsorships. A parent or grandparent donates to Torah Live (a registered 501c3) and sponsors part of our site. As a thank-you, your school gets a year of school-wide and parent-wide access.

  • Teacher programs. Parents join together to cover teacher accounts. We'll send you ready-to-share text for your parent community.

For either one, email sponsorthefuture@torahlive.com.

What do I do if I see a device limit message?

If you see a device limit message, log out on a device you're not using, then try again. Learn more about using Torah Live on multiple devices.
