Class Activity Idea - Eretz Yisrael

Each student should prepare a short presentation on what Eretz Yisrael means to them. It could be a video or a poster - whatever works!

Eretz Yisrael - there's no place like home❤

Let's begin!

Ask your students:

  • Why is Eretz Yisrael so important to the Jewish people?

  • If your students have never been to Eretz Yisrael, ask them - what do you know about Eretz Yisrael? (You'll be surprised to hear what they say!)

Next:

Put up a map of Eretz Yisrael and place a bowl of pins on the desk and ask your students (whoever knows the answer should come up and pin the location on the map):

(From the Eretz Yisrael - Part 1 video)

  • Where is Yerushalayim?

  • Where is the burial place of R' Yosef Karo?

  • Where is Beer Sheva?

  • What are the 4 holy cities?

  • Where is the Kinerret?

  • Where is the Dead Sea?

  • Where is the burial place of Rabbi Akiva?

What does Eretz Yisrael mean to you?

Have your students get creative!

Each student should prepare a short presentation on what Eretz Yisrael means to them. It could be a video or a poster - whatever works!

Ask your students: how can we connect to Eretz Yisrael when we're in America/UK/Australia/__(fill in the blank)__?

There is so much more that we can do here to connect our students to Eretz Yisrael. What are some ideas that you have done with your students? We'd love to hear from you!
